Joy in Pleasant Hills
Rebecca and Hugh Thomforde have been here for a week, organizing Phil's house, getting ready for a Christmas Thomforde reunion and sharing-out of stuff. They wanted to have people come over to the house for a little musical evening. But they wanted to include Ruth MacKenzie. We talked about using the wheelchair van, but then I suggested,"Why not have it in Ruth's Hearth Room?" So we passed the word -- 2:00 o'clock Saturday -- to everybody at Linda's and the Saturday market.
Will and Martha are the "sponsors" of Braun Home; they provided cookies and juice. Care Partners brought extra chairs (and people) from Munson Home. Rebecca had invited various performers - each to have five minutes "on stage". I led off with my "Skylights" theme song. Here you see Ruth and Phyllis playing a piano/flute duet, then Ruth's son playing the guitar for a solo and "Irene, Goodnight". Betty Streich volunteered to sing a cheerleading song! Marian Ziebell played two pieces that had people up and dancing. We also had Rebecca's friend Judy Matthews playing and singing, and Susan Stark and Marian Ziebell teaching a two-part song. They tell me Margaret Booton (age 101) sang harmony to some of the songs. Edith Early was clapping in time with the music. Janell told some fractured nursery rhymes. Will told a story. There were limericks, and even a Knock-knock joke. People came alive.

It was an Indoor Campfire. Do we have a community, or what! I am so proud.
What is a Farrago? A motley assortment of things, a medley, a conglomeration, a hodgepodge of odds and ends. Thank you, thank you, Rebecca! You have shown us an easy way to "cash in" on all the love and talent in this place.
Let's celebrate. Culture change works!
